We all know the 3:1:1 rule for flights… but whether you are only taking a carry-on, or checking all of your luggage, stress brought on by liquids… is REAL!
I used to pack full sized bottles in my packed bags and not do the carry-on thing, but when these explode… your life is pretty much over, and who wants to be dealing with shampoo-covered scarves and shoes upon landing in your destination. This also makes your bag VERY HEAVY and you risk paying overweight fees.
Over the years, I’ve found some great tips for packing my toiletries, and here are some of my must have items!

1. Tarte Frxxtion Stick (Cleanser, Exfoliator, Mask)

This is at the top of this list, because if you close out now and read nothing else, this one product will change.your.life! I was on my way to Europe for a month in a carry-on. I was going to be doing everything from hikes, to gross hostel living, to sweaty night clubs with a face full of makeup, so bringing along a good cleanser was a MUST! At this point, I already used a charcoal cleanser on the daily, so I tried to find a similar product for my trip. This is a stick, therefore NOT a liquid, added bonus! I did not expect to love this product as much as I do! It’s tiny, but last forever! You first wet your face, then rub the stick all over, you feel a gentle exfoliation as you do. At this point, you can decide to use this as a cleanser, an exfoliator, or a mask. To use as a mask, just leave it on and let it dry, then rinse off. To use as a cleanser, just wash off. Or you can use this as an exfoliator by using your fingers to rub in it, in a circular motion all over your face. This Frxxtion stick truly cleanes your face, gets the grime off from the day, and works just as good as any home microderm product I’ve had. This is a must have and I use it daily now, not just on trips!
2. Garnier Smoothing Facial Mist

When you’re hot and sweaty in summer, or at a music festival dancing the night away, this product gives you a boost and rejuvenates your skin. When it’s freezing in NYC and the wind is blowing in your face, and your nose is red and you are not looking your hottest, this product literally gives you life. You can also use this on your face after you apply makeup for a clean and dewy look. It’s perfect and it comes in multiple sizes, so very easy to pack in your carry-on or luggage. You can also get this at Target, Walmat, CVS, etc.
3. Shampoo and Conditioner Bars

I’ll be honest, I was reaallyyyy hoping for the best with this. I wanted something cheap, and that wasn’t a liquid. I’m a cosmetoglogist’s daughter, so the thought of a shampoo bar… is a bit of a stretch for me. Again, I was pleasantly surprised, and I now use these on the regular. Added bonus: Not a liquid, so no worries for a carry on, and no spillage in your suitcase. These even come in their own little containers, and since they last soooo much longer than typical bottle of shampoo and conditioner, you are helping to save the environment too!
4. Pixi Glow Tonic

Okay, so take note, this is not even an OUNCE! It’s the tiniest little bottle of magic powers you’ll ever own! It lasts a long time, because it’s a toner, and this is another MEGA FAVORITE in the beauty industry. Pixi is a trusted brand, and unlike most toners, this smells amazing. It’s not super harsh on your skin, and it does the job, keeps you plump and fresh and I could go on and on about this product, Glow Tonic is an obsession of mine. There is no need to ruin your skin and fudge up your beauty routine just because you’re on the road! This is a MUST!
5. Dry Shampoo

This tiny can works wonders! Let’s be real… girls don’t wash their hair everyday, and depending on the kind of trip you’re going on…not washing your hair at all is not completely off the table. Batise is a great brand, affordable, smells nice, doesn’t leave a weird residue, and no one will even notice that you haven’t washed your hair in a week.
